In the past days, we had great encounters with wildlife and today was no exception. We arrived at Puerto Ayora on Santa Cruz Island and spent our day looking for Galapagos giant tortoises. Today was our best chance to see these emblematic species in two different locations, at the Giant Tortoise Breeding Center and up in the Highlands.
We also took the opportunity to immerse ourselves into the activities and local culture by going to a school, a sugar cane farm, and a hydroponic farm. Afterwards, we went to a great place for lunch that lies next to the tortoise reserve. There were many wild tortoises, and we spent some time observing them in their natural habitat.
Towards the end of the afternoon, we returned aboard and enjoyed a performance by a local band of musicians and dancers from Santa Cruz Island.
