Our adventure on Santa Cruz Island began early in the morning with a visit to the Breeding Centre, where we learned about conservation efforts for Galapagos giant tortoises and the island's unique wildlife. We then headed to a hydroponic farm, where we discovered the innovative methods used to grow delicious lettuce and coffee in a controlled environment. The farm's focus on sustainability and efficient water use was truly impressive. A visit to El Trapiche was also offered to learn about the traditional method of extracting sugarcane juice using a centuries-old technique.

After working up an appetite, we enjoyed a satisfying lunch in the highlands, surrounded by lush vegetation and breathtaking views. Finally, we embarked on a leisurely nature walk, where we had the privilege of strolling alongside giant tortoises in their natural habitat. These gentle giants roamed freely, giving us a glimpse into the island's incredible biodiversity. It was a truly unforgettable experience, and we left Santa Cruz Island with a deeper appreciation for this remarkable ecosystem.
