Today on board National Geographic Endeavour II, we explored the northern area of Santa Cruz Island. Early in the morning we had a fantastic hike on Dragon Hill where we encountered Galapagos land iguanas, flamingos, flycatchers and enjoyed the unique landscapes of northern Santa Cruz. Later, wet suits on, it was time to snorkel. With very good visibility, we spotted rays, turtles, and literally thousands of fish, including parrot fish, black-striped salemas, damselfish, and some of our guests even saw sharks and an octopus.
After lunch, we had a presentation about the human history of Galapagos and then jumped into our Zodiacs for an exploration of an area known as Bahia Borrero, where blue-footed boobies and baby hammerhead sharks were the stars of the afternoon. We finished our day with a wine tasting while circumnavigating the famous Daphne Major Island and enjoyed a dreamy sunset.
