Another day, another adventure.
Just when you think you have seen it all on these islands, something comes along and proves you are all wrong. The adventure starts early in the morning with a kayak departure for those wanting the exercise, along the coast some animals are already standing to start the day. We go by and say hello, take pictures, they cooperate and we are happy. Some turtles and sea lions do the same from the water.
Others decided to go to the beach for an enjoyable walk through mangroves and Palo Santos, some marine and land birds can be seen along the path. Others are in the lagoon that has been formed by rain and wave action. Hundreds of ghost crabs and also fiddler crabs abound in the area for our contentment. After all of these activities we are back on board for breakfast.
The other half of the morning includes snorkeling, kayaking and Zodiac rides: you decide what you want to do! Snorkeling is one of the favorites. These waters are so rich in life: beautiful and colorful fishes, rays, turtles and more.
Some wanted to go on a Zodiac ride to enjoy the fantastic landscape of Buccaneer’s cove, where the ocean waves and the wind have come together to shape the land into incredible forms.
We are ready for the afternoon. After landing on a black sandy beach and putting our shoes on we headed down a dusty path to the adjacent short line where there are lots of animals. One of them is the Galapagos fur sea lion, away from the sand to avoid overheating they can be found on rocky areas as they provide shade for their comfort while they are on land. Phenomenal lava arches filled with sea water surround the area and makes it look pretty. This place has everything, wildlife, geology, plants, waves and more.
Colonies of marine iguanas and Galapagos sea lions are found at every step we take. Lava lizards cross the path as we move along. This area is yearly visited by many types of migratory species like plovers, sandpipers, ruddy turnstones, whimbrels and many more.
Fantastic weather was just the perfect complement for another fantastic day in the Galapagos.
