We continue our exploration of this famous archipelago, and today we arrived to the island of Santiago. This island was one of the first to be explored and colonized by buccaneers and other navigators.

Our first stop this morning was Playa Espumilla. This place is one of the most important beaches in the Galapagos for the green sea turtles who dig their nests here. Along the beach, we could see tracks left by females the previous night. We made our way inland, looking for Galapagos hawks and admiring the changing scenery.

We could see the effects of the super moon that occurred several days ago. It caused increased wave action on coasts all throughout the Galapagos, and today we had some fun moments with the waves while getting in and out of the Zodiacs.

Our next stop was Buccaneers Cove, where the waves added some extra excitement to our kayaking excursion. We also had the option to snorkel here with sea lions, rays, turtles, and many tropical fish, while some saw them from the glass-bottom boat.

In the afternoon we moved to Puerto Egas. There were two options for our guests, the first being a landing at the black sand beach where there is a colony of sea lions. The other option was to walk along the shore next to the grottos, where the fur seals are found.

As the afternoon progressed, the colors in the sky transformed the landscape into a photography studio. Every seabird feeding close to the tidal pools cooperated in front of our cameras, and our guests were able to take some excellent shots, capturing great memories of this magical place.

The day ended with a spectacular sunset behind the volcanoes of Isabela.
