Santiago Island has a rich human history since Charles Darwin itself visited in 183, later on there were some attempts to start a salt mining operation without success which is the reason why this place was named Egas Port. Santiago Island it is also a restore Island because we were able to get rid of goats and pigs given an amazing opportunity to Santiago giant tortoises to spread out on the Island because nobody competes with them for natural resources anymore.
