Today we visited Lindblad’s adopted island, Santiago. Also known as James Island, Santiago had a problem with invasive goats, which created a negative tension with the endemic fauna. Thanks to efforts and donations from Lindblad Expeditions, the goat problem was eradicated. Today we can visit Santiago Island and admire its beautiful and endemic flora, fauna, and landscapes.
The visit on Santiago started with a pre-breakfast walk along Espumilla Beach along with some kayaking. We explored the coast after breakfast with Zodiac rides, more kayaking, glass-bottom boat tours, and snorkeling. In the afternoon, we visited Puerto Egas, where we took a sunset walk to search for wildlife. The day ended with a BBQ dinner on the sky deck and stargazing before bedtime. It was another magical day in the Galapagos Islands!
