After the adventures of the previous day, we all woke up early to make the most of the second full day of our expedition in Alaska. Our trusty ship, National Geographic Sea Lion, cruised into Scenery Cove in the wee hours of the morning before breakfast. We wanted to make the most of the views and the stunning landscape around us.
Once breakfast was said and done, we made our way toward the site of our morning activity at Cascade Creek. However, as we approached, a dense layer of fog rolled in, making our landing site but a figment of our imaginations. Luckily, as the day wore on and we headed out for morning hikes, the fog cleared away to unveil the region’s incredible scenery.
Back on the ship, we were tired and weary from our active morning but overjoyed with the adventures we got to experience. Afterward, we were treated to yet another amazing lunch in the restaurant before we made our way into the lounge to shop ‘til we dropped at the Global Gallery.
The afternoon brought with it yet another fun-filled activity in the icy waters surrounding LeConte Glacier. We marveled at the scenery around us and gazed up at the towering icebergs that had calved off the glacier face in the far distance.
As soon as our Zodiac cruising came to an end, we ventured back to the ship for cocktail hour and recap. We ended the day with a scrumptious dinner followed by a lecture on salmon from Emily. Then we headed to bed so we could get our beauty sleep before our big day in Wrangell the following morning.
