Today, we visited SGang Gwaay, the site of a 19th century Haida village. SGang Gwaay is a UNESCO World Heritage site and part of the Gwaii Haanas National Park Reserve. We were guided through this sacred area by Haida Watchmen to view the site and hear stories about the ruins of houses and mortuary poles. After learning the history of this place, we were able to walk a beautiful forest loop around the island before heading back to National Geographic Sea Bird.
