This morning we docked in the sheltered harbor of the small town of Siglufjörður on Iceland’s north coast for a visit to the only Icelandic museum to have won an international award—the European Museum of the Year 2004—and we were about to discover why.

As a photographer it’s always difficult to visit a new location for only a short period of time and manage to tell a story about the experience through still images, yet that’s what National Geographic photographer Jason Edwards and I are encouraging guests aboard the ship to do. I set out to try and lead by example today! I don’t think I wholly succeeded but I enjoyed the creative process nonetheless and that after all is what I think photography should be all about. The wonderful thing about working with Lindblad Expeditions is that there will always be another fun photography challenge around the corner!

For the technically minded my equipment list was minimal but selected with a storytelling purpose in mind. I carried a Canon 5D MarkIV with 15mm f2.8 fisheye and 50mm f/1.2L lenses and a Canon M5 with a 22mm pancake lens. Here are a limited selection of photos from what was a superb museum visit.
