The National Geographic Islander anchored with the first light of the morning in front of South and North Plaza, which are two very old islands that used to be part of the ocean floor. This morning we had the chance to explore South Plaza, where there are very healthy populations of land iguanas, sea lions and several kinds of seabirds.
In the afternoon, the ship repositioned southeast to a different island called Santa Fe. Our guests explored the turquoise bays via kayaks and standup paddleboards. Some of our guests prepared for an invigorating long hike to the top of the island and some decided to explore the nearby beaches covered with large groups of sea lions, and to look for the very rare endemic land iguana.
