We started the day accompanied by a raft of penguins, a few humpback whales, and a group of Cape petrels as we entered Neptune’s Bellows at Deception Island.

Inside the caldera, it was nice and calm. We spent the better part of the morning hiking the area and strolling around the historic remains of the old whaling station. We were surrounded by geothermal steam, penguins, and elephant seals.

Afternoon took us to Livingston Island and Edinburgh Hill. The backdrop of the magnificent basalt formation of the old volcano was perfect for a Polar Plunge. What a way to end the last day of operations for this trip!
