It is our last day of exploration at the upper amazon; it has been a great week at the rain forest with no rain, well! We have been lucky because we had no rain along the week. Our entire excursion came save and sound!
Today we came out at 7:00 am to explore Supay Creek, a very quiet place where we found many tanagers, hawks, ospreys, king fisher, and monkeys. As always, we did our adventure on skiff, but some others went to kayak along the creek.
The morning was divided in two. One hour of exploration and the we met at a planned point to have our “jungle breakfast” It is a great experience, the crew makes an extraordinary work to bring all the food and we put our three skiffs together and enjoy a nutritious breakfast surrounded by wildlife, huge tress and a many song of birds and jungle creatures; after having this unique experience we started our second part of the journey to explore more of the place. About 10:00 we came back to our ship.
Later in the afternoon we moved to Flor de Castaña, I love this spot because at the end is a big black water lagoon with many dead trees sticking out of the water which is home for many type of birds such as wood peckers, jacamars, night hawks, parakeets of different kinds etc. At the beginning of the creek the entrance was obstructed by few big fallen trees as rafts, at this time of the year the river got strong currents and you see many pieces of tree trunks and vegetation coming by. Our expert guides and crew did a good job removing the blocking objects and finally we got in.
The exploration came great! We took many pictures of the very diverse wildlife and also bird watching as much as we could. At the begging far on the distance we saw black clouds on the sky, imminently the rain was coming to us but one more time we did not get any. In our way back home all the expressions of our guest faces were calmed and happy. One week here, in this green world is just a great experience. Here we did not hear any bad news, we did not see any bad situation, and the entire atmosphere here was peaceful and quite. Sun set as every day is so colorful and warm. Tonight we have a farewell cocktail to see goodbye to our new friends. It has been a family trip like, tomorrow life will continue for us at different places, but these great memories will live forever in our minds.
