After a couple of busy days in Russia, we had a nice and relaxed morning at sea. Jacob, our ethnomusicologist, did a presentation on music and political movements, and showed the film “Singing Revolution.” The documentary elucidates the role of song festivals in giving voice to the Estonian people and culture during a time of Soviet domination. In the afternoon we drove and walked around the well-preserved and impressive medieval of Tallinn. In the Old Town, the past wealth of Tallinn is well-demonstrated by the opulence of the public buildings and domestic architecture of the merchant houses. Finally, just to add some icing on the cake, we all reconvened for a spectacular performance by local Estonian band, Trad.Attack!
