The day started off with beautiful misty clouds playing with shadow and light as the sun came up over the ocean. Some were out on the decks looking for marine life, while others enjoyed a good stretch at yoga class.

During the morning National Geographic Sea Bird approached Isla Danzante and anchored at Honeymoon cove for snorkeling in hopes of seeing rays, eels, and reef fish. The drizzly weather added an element of hydration to the desert that gave us a unique perspective. Later, the skies cleared after lunch, and we enjoyed hiking, paddle-boarding, and kayaking in this secluded and sheltered bay.

The coastal birds were flying about and capturing our photographic attention. There were many rays, under the kayaks, to view as they ventured on their paths and graced us with an occasional jump out of the water. The afternoon was relaxing and offered something for everyone to experience before our lovely dinner beach barbecue. The food consisted of traditional Mexican fare of carne asada and fish tacos. The galley spoiled us with a wonderful dinner and fantastic cream cheese brownies for dessert.

The sun emerged and lit up the western sky in a glorious blaze of pink and golden light, illuminating the clouds for sunset. Then we had s’mores at our cozy fire on the beach, while naturalists led guitar folk songs. We listened contently as the stars peak out of the dark sky.
