Early this morning, we entered the Bay of La Paz and docked at the pier along the Malecon, the beautiful waterfront in the capital of Baja California Sur. After breakfast, we traded our floating home for motor coaches, and travelled across the peninsula, to visit Todos Santos, designated as “Pueblo Magico.”

The Pericu and the Guaycura, the indigenous peoples of the southern peninsula, were the only inhabitants in the area until 1723, when Father Jaime Bravo discovered the oasis which is located in the foothills of the Sierra La Laguna that provide the area with an abundance of water, excellent climate, and soil conditions. In 1733 the Jesuits founded the mission of Santa Rosa de Todos Santos and the population became mostly European. Nowadays, a year round colony of surfers, organic farmers, and artists have found a perfect home among the magic of this little pueblo.

After our visit at the church and the museum, mixed with some shopping, we had lunch at Café Santa Fe where we admired the xantus’ hummingbirds feeding on the nectar in the red flowers that grow in abundance in the courtyard of the restaurant. Every avid photographer was being challenged to catch one of their best shots of the amazingly beautiful little creature.

Back in La Paz, we had the opportunity to take a stroll along the Malecon, and we started fiesta night with a local band that came on board to play some traditional music for all of us. Dinner was a fantastic Mexican buffet, and we all got a taste of the special ice cream locally made in La Paz.
