A series of underwater recessional moraines, indicated by the fathometer on the bridge of National Geographic Sea Bird, lead into Holkham Bay and Tracy Arm-Fords Terror Wilderness.

We followed the tortuous waterway through dramatic scenery toward Sawyer and South Sawyer Glaciers. Expedition landing craft tours gave us a closer look at the face of Sawyer Glacier.

We had an active afternoon in Williams Cove exploring by foot, kayak and stand-up-paddleboard. The day and the expedition were capped off with a sighting of humpback whales as we made our way to our final destination – Juneau, which is Alaska’s capital city.
