Today the National Geographic Sea Bird crossed the shallow bar into Tracy Arm Fjord just before sunrise. Tracy Arm is one of the most beautiful fjords in the world, and today was especially magical with blue skies, blue ice, and major calving events. The surprise of the morning was a pre-breakfast encounter with a small pod of killer whales in stealth mode, following the shadows along the shoreline.

The rest of the morning was spent exploring the ice from water level in front of South Sawyer Glacier in our fleet of expedition landing craft before basking in the sun as we navigated back to the entrance in the late afternoon.
