This morning, Captain Martin gave a presentation in which he described the design and building of this very special polar ship, National Geographic Resolution. When he finished, we bundled up and boarded Zodiacs to watch as our ship navigated the White Narrows, a narrow channel with strong currents. The ship transited right as the tide changed so there would be very little current. It was an exhilarating experience!

Later in the afternoon, we visited Bernal Glacier. We walked through a vegetated area with small trees, shrubs, and mosses, and all the while, we could see the white and blue glacier ahead of us. We walked past shallow turquoise pools of meltwater, then over small rocks deposited by the receding glacier, and eventually, we arrived near the glacier’s face.
