After traversing the entirety of the Lynn Canal all night, we made our way into Tracy Arm- Ford’s Terror Wilderness early this morning. A lone humpback whale welcomed us into William’s Cove as we entered the iceberg-filled bay. The boson lowered the Zodiacs, kayaks and stand up paddleboards and just like that, another day of adventure began. Several of us went on nature walks. There was even a walk for our younger guests, some of who came back with beautiful flower crowns and ferns in their hair. We also explored the large, floating icebergs and a trickling waterfall via kayaks and the stand-up paddle boards. After our last landing onshore, we sailed deeper into the fjord, bound for glaciers!

We had a little lesson about plankton, wandering in the waters we had just left, and then looked outside to find that glacial succession was evident at every turn. Brilliant, blue icebergs lined the fjord’s waters as we sped towards the faces of Sawyer and South Sawyer Glaciers. Elusive harbor seals swam betwixt the ice while pigeon guillemots flew overhead. Massive waterfalls gushed down the steep, metamorphic mountains. Calving glaciers produced thunderclaps as the sound of plummeting ice filled the fjord. Just when we thought life could not be sweeter, a benevolent group of Vikings aboard the MV Cocoa Boat pulled alongside of us and offered us some warm cups of hot cocoa – a few ones even had a kick! We warmed up back onboard, and watched the premiere of our guest’s photo slide show, cherishing the memories from this wonderful trip.
