Our morning in Wrangell, Alaska started out gray and misty, but as the day continued, the mist subsided and the sun began to show us small glimpses from behind the clouds. Our morning adventures included a jetboat ride up the Stikine River to see Shake’s Glacier, a boat ride, and a short hike to Anan Creek for some amazing bear viewing, and a visit to Chief Shakes’ tribal house for a cultural interpretation of Tlingit history.
Afternoon activities had guests choosing between two beautiful hikes. One led to the top of Mount Dewey, where those who participated were rewarded with a stunning view of the waterways surrounding the harbor of Wrangell. The other option was a casual walk along a nature trail that boasted healthy trees and beautiful blooming flowers.
Fourth of July celebrations were in full swing. Kids of all ages participated in games and races, dogs strutted the streets with their owners in a dog parade, and everyone enjoyed festive treats along the way.
