Zapote River is one of the many tributaries that feed the Ucayali River. It finds its way along this vast flat land through primary rainforest and ponds surrounded by grasses and many types of trees. This region has a lush, healthy forest full of birds that feed on meat, fish, insects, plants or fruits. This was a great opportunity for all of us to observe and learn about how this ecosystem works. In the morning three species of monkeys were spotted, including the coolest of all monkeys: the monk saki monkey.

In the afternoon we headed to Supay Creek for more exploration. This place can offer surprises. This time, out of nowhere, we suddenly we had titi monkeys in front of our eyes! Everything here is lush and it is home to many species of birds, such as caciques and parrots. Among all of these vibrant lifeforms we found many types of raptors, especially the black collared hawk. And representing the group of mammals that live in trees we saw a three toed sloth!

It was a very exciting day full of sightings.
