Traveling Solo on an Expedition Cruise
Lindblad Expeditions-National Geographic offers more than a hundred unique itineraries across all seven continents. Whether you're eager to experience the legendary Galápagos Islands, the remote wilds of Alaska, or the icy spectacle of Antarctica, every one of our expeditions is great for solo travelers.
If you're feeling a little bit nervous about traveling alone, you can choose a destination that's closer to home so it's that bit more comfortable. Otherwise, choose the trip based on the destination that fascinates you.
Lindblad Expeditions-National Geographic strives to ensure your entire experience will be as seamless as possible. All you need to do is get yourself to and from your house to your local airport. Our travel department can help you book the most direct flights, and once you arrive in your destination, a Lindblad representative will be waiting to escort you to the next leg of your journey.
On some itineraries, you can opt for a pre- or post-voyage extension, which is a great opportunity for solo travelers to access some places that are harder to reach on your own. These extensions allow you to explore fascinating places in the company of a small group with a knowledgeable guide.

Tanish Peelgrane: All of our activities are designed to be flexible and inclusive for every guest. If you like kayaking, you can set out in a single or pair up to paddle a double. Sign-up sheets make it easy to find a kayak partner or a new snorkeling buddy. And remember, if you don't feel like joining an excursion, you are more than welcome to skip it and stay on board to just relax in a deck chair or sort through some photos.
On every ship in our fleet, there's an open seating policy in the dining room, which means you never have to eat alone, unless of course you choose to. Conversation is easy when there's so much to talk about, like all the incredible wildlife sightings, maybe an interesting hike, or that incredibly meaningful encounter with people in a remote community. But, you can always have a quiet meal on the observation deck and just take in the views.
Solo Traveler Pricing and Savings
In the expedition cruising industry, pricing is usually based on double occupancy, with solo travelers paying a single supplement. Solo premium is our pricing category for single travelers, and it incorporates that supplement. However, we do waive that premium and offer savings especially for solo travelers on select departures throughout the year. So, it's a good idea to sign up for our emails so you don't miss out on these special offers that are designed to help you make your travel dreams a reality.
