Day 1 - Oslo
Arrive in the Norwegian capital of Oslo and check in to the historic Hotel Bristol or similar. Take a scenic metro ride to the peaceful mountaintop forest at Holmenkollen. Enjoy a hike along woodland trails as we explore this iconic peak that towers above the city. Then visit the world-renowned Holmenkollen Ski Jump, which hosted events for the 1952 Winter Olympics. Delve into 4,000 years of Nordic and downhill skiing history at the adjoining Ski Museum and, from the observation deck on top, take in spectacular views of Oslo. Enjoy an early dinner at Holmenkollen Lodge before returning to the city. (D)
Day 2 - Oslo
Oslo sits at the head of a fjord, filled with picturesque islands waiting to be explored. We will use the local ferry to visit several islands throughout the day and enjoy lunch along the way. This afternoon, return to the city for time at leisure to possibly visit the medieval Akershus Fortress, built in the 13th century by King Haakon V, before dinner on your own in one of the fantastic options Oslo has to offer. (B, L)
Day 3 - Oslo
This morning, walk through the city to the waterfront and visit your choice of two museums: the Nobel Prize Museum, which exhibits Nobel Prize-winning ideas throughout history; or the National Museum, home to several renowned works of art, including Edvard Munch’s The Scream.
