We wake with the sun to the sounds of a breaching whale, and we begin our journey to visit the calved remnants of the Le Conte Glacier floating in the near Petersburg Alaska.  Just across the sound lies the fishing village of Petersburg, where we take advantage of much needed shore leave by hiking, biking, and visiting the local vendors.  Refreshed and relaxed from our day’s adventures and with the warm wind blowing on us from the bow of the vessel, we make our way through the Wrangell Narrows where the seawater channel runs in darkness.
