Between Chichigof Island and the mainland of Alaska, near Glacier Bay National Park, lies an inlet from the Pacific Ocean to the sound that makes up South East Alaska. Here, deep, rich nutrients, and cold oxygen bearing waters flood in from the open ocean. In the middle of this channel sits the Inian Islands, a small archipelago that is chock full of life. In the morning, we were treated to views of the fourth largest pinniped on earth, the Stellar sea lion, as well as great looks at sea otter and puffins. In the afternoon, we took hikes across George Island and had watersports available for intrepid kayakers and paddle boarders.
