We are exploring the Marañón River, which happens to be one on the main tributaries of the mighty Amazon River. This river is one of the main traffic routes and fishing areas for the local people.  This region is green with large trees all around us, in fact it is tropical rainforest glowing with life!

In the morning we explored the primary forest at the Amazon Natural Park. This place has been persevered with its total number of species of trees and animals. The moment you set a foot in this forest you are impressed by the size of the trees and the dim lighting conditions underneath. There is so much vegetation all around and so many different sounds of insects, birds, and monkeys.

We explored the forest and we learned the different ways of using the local plants for medicinal purposes and also as food plants. It is interesting to get to know the economic value of certain types of precious woods as well as the history of the rubber tree and its impact in the local economy.

In the afternoon we visited another amazing place. This time we explored Piraña Caño. We boarded the skiffs for a long ride in search of wildlife. Actually, we didn’t have to search for animals, all we had to do was just look at the trees and there they were! As we explored this flooded forest we enjoyed the symphony of the jungle! It was nearly sunset and we were still surrounded by trees.

This is the time when birds are coming back to their roosting and performing courtship territorial displays. The songs of the tropical birds were combined with the sounds of a troop of howler monkeys marking their domains in the forest!

It was a fantastic day with a golden sunset and thousands of parakeets flying all over the riverbank and us!
