This morning we had the opportunity to stretch our legs in the rainforest on a privately owned and operated 60-acre reserve known as Amazon Nature Park. In addition to the animal life within the reserve, there is the added privilege of crossing an eight-section suspension bridge that affords close-up looks at the mid-level forest canopy. It’s quite a different perspective to be above the vegetation looking down!
Our afternoon brought new discoveries along a very small creek (known locally as a caño), where we spotted many types of wildlife. It is the rainy season here in the Amazon Basin, and the water level is high, allowing us to maneuver our skiff deep into the flooded forest to get up-close and personal looks at the plants and animals that call this area home.
