The day commenced with a call to the Bridge to see a whopping iceberg. That iceberg was B22A from the Thwaites Ice Shelf. Now 44x24 miles in size, it has been slowly breaking up after being freed from the shelf in 2002. As we sailed along its long face, the excitement continued with leopard seals, Adelie penguins, emperor penguins, and crabeater seals scattered around the floes. Today’s showstopper was a rare Ross seal. It was hauled out on the ice as guests flooded to the Bridge to capture the memory. That wasn’t it for the day’s wildlife, though. Humpback, minke, and type A killer whales were all seen amongst the ice.
