After a beautiful first evening of sailing, we awoke to a gentle breeze in the lower sails, navigating between St. Lucia and the sound end of Martinique. The breeze filled in as we turned the corner and headed north toward Dominica. The captain and crew spent the morning setting the remaining sails and giving an engaging talk on weather, rigging, and some of the uniquities of Sea Cloud. We filled the remainder of our morning with a snorkel safety briefing and engine room tours with the chief engineer.

After our first lunch on the Lido, we settled into our seats for a presentation on Smart Phone Photography from our certified photo instructor, and a history of the sugar cane trade and slavery from our onboard historian.

The wind faded in the afternoon, and we continued through sunset and into the night under power. What a magical first day onboard the mighty wind ship, Sea Cloud.
