Yesterday we visited the nursery lagoons where gray whale mothers raise their young and today we visited Bahia Almejas. So many of us that set out on the pangas in the morning noticed more than cruising and spy-hopping whales; on a few occasions we witnessed the whales mating.
After leaving the mating lagoon, we made our way out into the Pacific Ocean where we were interrupted by humpback whales. They too are in the region to display, jostle, court, mate, and raise young. Valentine’s Day jokes were made.
