We woke up this morning anchored at Punta Dispensa, where everyone on board enjoyed a restful night. We started the day taking some deep breaths, standing on our yoga mats on the bridge deck for our morning stretch as the sun was rising above the horizon.

During breakfast, we repositioned the ship to Bahia San Gabriel for our morning activities. We all went to shore and some of us chose to go on a 6-mile roundtrip walk across the island to Bahia Bonanza, where we watched the royal terns catching fish. Along the way we saw the cardon, galloping, and cholla cacti, and some agaves.

Other guests went kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding along the shore, and got a ride on the expedition landing craft to observe the colony of magnificent frigatebirds that nests in the mangroves.

Frigatebirds are also called pirate birds as they love to steal from other birds. They were busy collecting twigs to build their nests and stealing twigs from each other in mid-air. Males blow up a big deep red gular pouch to attract the females. The bigger the display, the better chance they have to get the attention and be selected by the picky females. It is a tough competition for the male frigatebirds.

Back on the ship for lunch, we sailed a little way north and anchored at Miracle beach for our snorkeling activity. Everyone enjoyed the afternoon on the beach and in the water.

Later on, we anchored at Ensenada Grande where we observed the mobula rays jumping out of the water while the sunset was lighting up the sky with shades of pink and purple.

The days are always filled with beauty and magic at Isla Espiritu Santo.
