This morning, we woke up on the beautiful grounds of Rindu Alam in Bukit Lawang for day two of our excursions hiking through Gunung Leuser National Park. The day started early for the birders, with the first group leaving just after 6am. This allowed them to venture deep into the forest before the heat of the day kicked in. They were rewarded with many sightings, including a special interaction with great argus. The remainder of the guests chose between hiking and a village visit. The hike was a success with great viewings of more orangutangs. This included male, female, and juvenile animals. The village visit also proved to be a great option, demonstrating the beautiful culture of the region and ample shopping opportunities.

Once everyone had returned, we ate lunch and then boarded the buses for the long but scenic trip back to National Geographic Orion. Another fantastic day was had by all.
