As the National Geographic Sea Bird cruised up the Columbia River, this morning, she made her way toward the Bonneville Dam. On the journey to Bonneville, the ship passed Multnomah Falls, Beacon Rock, and saw many Native American fishing platforms. As the ship approached Bonneville Dam, guests could witness firsthand how the National Geographic Sea Bird transits through the lock. It was a first-time experience for most aboard the ship.
After lunch, the ship docked at Hood River and those among the National Geographic Sea Bird could venture off the ship and go on several excursions. One being a visit to the Mosier tunnels, which is a part of the Historic Columbia Highway, developed by Samuel Hill. Another option was to wander through the Western Automobile and Airplane Museum, and witness various antique cars and airplanes from different eras. Another great experience was a venture along the streets of Hood River’s city for a little shopping and beer tasting at Full Sail Brewery. It was a wonderful day exploring the area around Columbia River.
