Our exciting day started with a lovely sunrise over the mountains of the Osa Peninsula, as we navigated to our anchorage area of Drakes Bay. The morning outing took us into a private preserve known as Caletas. A proud Costa Rican family owns this precious land and their love for conservation of the rainforest is tangible in the way we start our forest adventure. Two trails gave us incredible sightings of birds and wildlife. Spider monkeys and White faced Coatis were among the mammals we spotted. Many birds were seen during the walked as well, including the chestnut mandibled toucan, scarlet macaws, and several antbirds.
Some of our more adventurous travelers decided to do horseback riding along the coast, while enjoying the greenery and exuberance of the Costa Rican rainforest.
After a very tasty picnic lunch on the beach, we all got back and had some time for resting before we departed for the afternoon activities, which included a visit to Corcovado National Park. This park was created back in 1975, and it is consider one of the most intense places on earth in terms of biodiversity. Of course we had the opportunity to have taste of its exuberance while hiking trails filled with native tree, lots of birds and several mammals.
We finished our lovely day with a priceless view of Isla del Caño while cruising back to Drakes bay, looking for calms waters to overnight.
