We started the morning with an optional stretch class and a filling breakfast that included a delicious blueberry cobbler. We spent the morning anchored just off Pond Island for some hiking and kayaking. Pond Island lived up to its name by treating us to some beautiful muskeg and many small ponds.
We returned to National Geographic Sea Bird for lunch and started cruising down Chatham Straight on our way to Sergius Narrows. Sergius Narrows is only passable at slack tide, so we had to make sure to time it just right to make it to Sitka.
During our cruise down Chatham Straight, we saw a couple whales in the distance. We also learned about sonar and ocean mapping from Mel and got some tips on climate actions from Expedition Leader John.
Our last evening was spent reflecting on all the beauty and fun we’ve had, highlighted with a slideshow made up of everyone’s favorite photos.
