We could not have asked for a more perfect day here in Southeast Alaska. Today, we awoke aboard National Geographic Venture to an impressive group of humpback whales bubble-net feeding. Over twenty whales participated in this unique cooperative feeding behavior while we watched in awe and cheered them on.

In the afternoon, we encountered a pod of killer whales. We sailed along with them as they traveled south in Chatham Strait. It was a full day of watching some of the most impressive marine mammals on the planet.

By the evening, we anchored off the coast of the fishing town, Petersburg. Alaska celebrates July Fourth on the night of the third. We watched fireworks from the bow of National Geographic Venture to cap off an awesome day here in beautiful Alaska.
