We wake up around 6 am and see that we have beautiful weather. We are ready for our first outing of the day which consists of visiting the coast of Chinese Hat and Santiago by Zodiac to explore their shores in search of wildlife. The landscape is outstanding here.

After our excursion we return for breakfast and then change and get ready for snorkeling.  We visit the same area that we explored during the Zodiac ride, so we are already familiar with the location. As soon as we enter the water we marvel at the exquisite underwater life of this site with an endless number of species from almost all groups of underwater life.  Just to mention a few, we saw sharks, rays, parrot fish, sea stars, and many other fish.

This was just an unbelievable outing that concluded with a visit to a small, white sand beach on Chinese Hat just to chill out.

A little before lunch we navigated to a nearby island with a brackish water lagoon where flamingoes were seen.

Our next activity took place at Sullivan bay which consists mostly of fresh pahoehoe lava formed about 120 years ago. Our observations allowed us to witness the process of the colonization of plants and animals to a newly formed place. This lava has incredible shapes and it was so amazing to walk on a place like this. Animals, like lava lizards, and plants, like lave cactus, are among the very few that can sustain life in this barren environment.

It was another incredible day in the Galapagos.
