At National Geographic-Lindblad Expeditions, we love to explore and fully immerse ourselves in nature, creating unique moments in breathtaking places. This morning, we ventured into Clavero Lake and a narrow blackwater creek where we enjoyed breakfast on skiffs. We found a beautiful tree filled with chirping birds, tied up our three skiffs, and served breakfast with a spectacular view. Afterward, we continued exploring, admiring the stunning reflections of the forest on the black waters. Along the way, we encountered large groups of great egrets, numerous pink river dolphins, and a troop of squirrel monkeys—a truly magical morning.
In the afternoon, we explored a creek I had personally visited in January 2024. It seemed as though no one had been there since, as the vegetation had completely taken over the waterway. The naturalists and I went ahead early, clearing a path with our machetes to allow the skiffs to pass. Later in the afternoon, we returned to explore, spotting scarlet macaws, saddleback tamarin monkeys, many multicolored birds, and beautiful flowers floating on the water. This visit felt like a dream—an untouched and pristine part of the Amazon.
