Today is our last full day in the Galapagos and we are visiting what I think is the best island, San Cristobal Island. Our landing spot in the morning was Punta Pitt. We travelled all night to get to the west eastern point of the Galapagos archipelago. After a nutritious breakfast we had a wet landing on a green volcanic beach made of olivine crystals which comes from the bottom of a magmatic chamber.

We started to climb through what looked like a big cannon. The geology of the place was really impressive. The tuff cones looked like giants that had witnessed several geologic episodes. The views as we ascended were just breathtaking. As we continued along the path we got to the nesting site of blue footed boobies and red footed boobies.  There were many nests with newly hatched chicks. Soon enough we got see the interesting red footed boobies on their nests as well.

After a great swim and delicious lunch, we continued our adventure as we arrived at Cerro Brujo among the remains of what used to be a shield volcano. The sand at this location was just amazing, so white and soft.

It was definitely a great adventure and a nice way to end an expedition full of surprises. From the remains of an eruption, to incredible scenic views and a lasting sunset, we cherished our last day in paradise.
