It is 4:00 a.m. and the sun is rising in Alaska as guests aboard National Geographic Sea Bird wake to witness the stark Alaskan sea and landscape all over again. Here the icebergs float just outside the cabin glass.

As we cruise on our way to Endicott Arm, our ship takes pause to relish an encounter with a brown bear (thanks, Bosun Lilly!) that was shoreside and seeking out fresh barnacles and mussels.

By lunchtime we arrived to Endicott Arm, where we explored Dawes Glacier by watercraft, navigating through icebergs while admiring the seal pups and adults resting on the harbor ice. After, surprise was waiting for us back on the ship: A polar plunge was announced, and 18 brave guests dove into the icy cold iceberg waters of Alaska to close an amazing expedition!
