National Geographic Sea Bird anchored in Fern Harbor, within the boundary of Glacier Bay National Park, as a light fog lifted to the promise of a beautiful day. The Fairweather Mountains and Brady Glacier were the backdrop to our protected anchorage, not far from the open Pacific Ocean. Currents carrying nutrients funnel through the area, stimulating all the trophic levels of the food web, producing and feeding abundant marine life. Our vessel remained at anchor throughout the day while we conducted our hiking and expedition landing craft explorations.
