Flatey, an island of just two square kilometers, graced us with an idyllic morning. Guests marveled at the church’s murals, strolled the village in the warm morning sun, sipped coffee in the local guesthouse, and sought out the island’s colony of Atlantic puffins. Flatey’s beauty offered something for everyone aboard National Geographic Endurance.

Our afternoon brought us to the town of Grundarfjörður, where adventurers embarked on hikes to waterfalls at the base of Kirkjufell Mountain, made famous as a filming location for Game of Thrones. After the day’s expedition, the ship’s talented crew brought down the house with a musical performance in the Ice Lounge. Singalongs to the Beatles, James Taylor, and the Eagles capped off a full day.
