We began our day in Friday Harbor, the county seat of the San Juan Islands. Light drizzle fell as we walked the dock after clearing customs, yet the sky turned blue and the sun emerged as we went about our activities, which included a tour of Aurora Farms, an island tour via bus with stops at Lime Kiln Lighthouse and English Camp, and a visit to The Whale Museum.
We reconvened aboard National Geographic Venture for lunch and cruised seven miles east to Jones Island. Here we went ashore for hikes and walks, kayaking and Zodiac tours. The water was calm, the forest smelled like fresh rain, and the sun warmed our faces.
