We sailed through several islands and islets to get to one of the largest land mass in the Galápagos, San Salvador.

At was ten in the morning we navigated through calm seas, underneath a blue sky. We could distinguish the shield of Sierra Negra volcano to the west, the already collapsed volcano of Santa Cruz to the east and several rocks north and south of us. There was nameless rock, a perfect cone cut by half, colored in yellowish layers of compacted ash. There was Pinzon, so mysterious an island that can not be visited unless it is for scientific purposes. Suddenly there was a splash, there was a blow, and there was a humpback whale. In a couple of minutes we realized that it wasn’t alone; this was a mother and her calf playing in the peacefulness of Galapagos inside waters. We loved this morning's sailing! Our guests enjoyed it from the sky deck, where we had set the bar with Ecuadorian drinks and snacks.

The afternoon found us at Puerto Egas, where snorkelers got to share the site with feeding green sea turtles and playful sea lions. For many, several days ago, this was a first snorkeling experience. What a way to get introduced to the marine life; with colorful fish, interesting underwater topography, sea lions and turtles.

We completed our day with a walk that took us through the coastline of Puerto Egas. We saw marine iguanas, male sea lions fighting and a lava heron feeding on a lizard. Back to the Islander there was a Ceviche (marinated fish) ready for us to enjoy as we watched the sunset from the sky deck. It was a lovely day shared with whales, magical island views, underwater species and above all, shared with a great group of guests who have so much interest, energy and love for nature.
