Isabela and Fernandina

These islands are named after the former King and Queen of Spain, Isabela and Fernando, who financed Cristobal Colon's most famous trip to America. The islands sit side by side and are the western most Islands in Galápagos; they are young, wealthy and still very untouched. Being very pristine, these islands along with their wildlife inhabitants, have inspired many movie directors and writers let their fantasies and imagination run wild.

These two Islands are side by side and they are the western most Islands in Galápagos; they are young, wealthy and still very untouched.

Early in the morning before the sunrises, the shadow of the big volcanoes look like giants, a very impressive sight, with all those little parasitic cones at the slopes of these daring volcanoes. Every time I get to sail around these areas, I always have the hopes to see any of these volcanoes erupting; if we count every parasitic cone as a volcano these two islands have about two thousands volcanoes. Therefore the hope of seeing one erupting always exists.

Our expedition has taken us to the center island; it undoubtedly has many more surprises in store for us.
