Española Island

Today the wind is blowing from a different direction giving the island a totally different appearance, showing different sides for us to explore. While snorkeling, the presence of a Galápagos shark made a good last snorkeling session, as well as the company of sea lions and some golden rays.

The beach showed an outstanding conglomerate of sea lions displaying all the ages from days old to full adult males and females. Owners as they are of the beach, we caught them snoozing for the most part; nevertheless some were extremely active, jumping and doing somersaults in the water as well as running on the sand and picking on the ones that were resting on land.

Kayaking was the third activity performed in the morning, giving all participants great joy, allowing them to explore the northern shoreline of Española in great detail. The transparency of the water was of great help for all of us during different moments of this morning. Now we were ready for lunch, some rest and the last great expedition of the week, to Punta Suarez.

While walking on the island our hearts and minds were rapt by watching all the birds nesting in this area. So much life. Successes and failures depicted a story - a very good story about hope. It is true, there is still hope if we make a little effort to protect what remains almost undisturbed.

Throughout the week the lesson has been repeated and repeated once and again in front of our eyes.
