Bartolomé & Santiago Islands

We disembarked at 6:30 am to enjoy a fabulous fresh equatorial morning. We dry landed on Bartolomé Island to climb up the summit of an eroded volcano. A wooden stairway has been built by the Galápagos National Park service to avoid erosion. We all had the best volcanic views that you can ever imagine on a visit to a volcanic archipelago. Great group pictures were taken by almost all of our guests with the famous pinnacle rock as a souvenir of this fabulous hike. This morning outing was definitely a big geology lesson and highlight to start our first full day in paradise.

Once back on board we all geared up for our first snorkeling outing. We swam with sharks, sea lions, sea stars, rays, Galápagos penguins and even a sea turtle! This kind of snorkeling experience is absolutely unique and cannot happen again anywhere else in the world.

The afternoon walk in Santiago Island was highlighted by a huge amount of different species of astonishing animals, big impressive marine iguanas, Galápagos Sea Lions, American oystercatchers, pelicans, Sally Lightfoot crabs, hermit crabs, sea turtles and colorful fish accompanied us along the shore, and in the intertidal pools. A splendid sunset was the golden seal to a perfect day.
