Espanola Island

What a wonderful day we had today!

This day found us anchored at Gardner Bay. In this place we had the joy to be awoken surrounded by the beautiful turquoise waters and the long white sandy beach characteristic of this location. Gardner Bay invited us to join water activities like snorkeling and kayaking. Some guests opted to take a simple walk along the astonishing white beach. Many forms of wildlife inhabit this beach, including mockingbirds, sea lions, and marine iguanas.

The ship was repositioned and after lunch we had our last outing this week: a dry landing at Punta Suarez located on the western part of Española Island. This island is home to the waved albatross. We said our last good byes to blue-footed and Nazca boobies, iguanas and lizards just to mention a few. Today we had a wonderful golden light from the sunset as a grand finale.

This is our last full day in the Galápagos after a wonderful expedition; we became friends and shared this magic world which is almost impossible to convey in words, we are now as one, ambassadors of a place which will always be in our hearts, and even though our resident scientists are reluctant to relate to animals, well, my dear friends, this one is for you:

We must not acknowledge the methodical saying “don’t humanize the animals” but instead “animalize the humans”; by perceiving our surroundings with all our senses, embracing nature through coexistence and respect from one another, we can become one with nature, as we once were.
