Floreana Island
Floreana has been known as the mystery island since the time of whalers, pirates and buccaneers. This island was an important stopping point for every visitor coming to the Galápagos; a very old post system started in 1793, and the same system has remained active through the present time. We continued the tradition by leaving our own postcards and taking any that were addressed close to our homes; anything left in the post barrel must be hand delivered, just as it worked in the 1700's.
Snorkeling was such a great activity; the water is still warm and we had an incredible time swimming with sea lions, all kinds of different fish, turtles, and sea stars.
And the afternoon couldn’t be better. We had some free time to relax at the beach and do some snorkeling and, later on, we were ready for a hike. We hiked a very short trail that goes over different ecosystems, each one with so many special adaptations: the green beach, the Flamingo’s lagoon, the white beach at the other side of the peninsula.
Peaceful is the word that describes for me what Floreana is.
